Fax Once Guide
What a fax confirmation shows, and what it doesn't
Updated October 31, 2026
A fax confirmation shows that a machine at that number answered and took your pages at a certain time. It doesn't show that a person read them or that the right person got them.
What's on a confirmation
Most confirmations show the number dialed, the date and time, the page count and the result. A Fax Once receipt shows those four things. It never stores your pages.
What it can and can't show
| It can show | It can't show |
|---|---|
| Which number you sent to | Whose machine that really is |
| When the fax went through | That anyone read it |
| How many pages went through | Which pages they were, or that they were clear |
When a deadline matters
- Save a copy of what you sent. A receipt shows that a fax went through, not what was on it. Fax Once removes the pages from your iPhone once the fax is delivered, so save your own copy first.
- Save the receipt with that copy. Keep them together in one folder.
- Don't wait until the last hour. Lines can be busy, and fax machines run out of paper. Leave time to try again.
- Call to check. Ask the office to confirm that they have it, and write down the name, date and time.
- Check that fax is accepted. Some deadlines require another way of sending. Your notice, contract or court rules will say.
Whether a confirmation counts as legal proof depends on who you are dealing with and where. If a lot depends on it, ask a lawyer or the office that set the deadline.
Why a fax might show as failed
- Busy line. Fax Once tries again on its own, 3 tries in all.
- No answer. The machine may be off or out of paper.
- Not a fax line. A person or voicemail answered. Call the office to confirm the number.
- The call dropped. A poor line can cut off a long fax partway through.
In Fax Once, a failed fax gives your credit back and keeps your pages on your iPhone so you can try again.
